RICHARDSON, TX –Thomas Printworks is pleased to announce the acquisition of Seebridge Media in Houston, Texas from Steve Johns and Larry Vaughn effective February 1, 2016. Seebridge Media’s core business is offset printing and direct mail but also offers some large format printing.

The SES provides an opportunity for education and networking to members of the architectural and healthcare communities. Building on the success from previous years, the 2015 SES also included a student design competition where teams of architecture students propose a solution to a healthcare architecture-related design challenge.

F4 Phantom

Orlando, Florida is home to one of America’s greatest aviation heroes: former Air Force pilot and prisoner of war, Colonel Joe Kittinger. During his military career, Joe Kittinger was recruited to help the Air Force with their dawning research in space based aviation. Kittinger took a series of balloon rides into our upper atmosphere while working on Projects Manhigh and Excelsior and is credited as the first human to observe the curvature of our planet. While working on Project Excelsior, Joe made a series of three high altitude parachute jumps from a helium balloon, setting several records with each jump. His final and highest jump in 1960 was from an altitude of 102,800 feet. These records stood for 52 years until broken by Felix Baumgartner in 2012. Kittinger later went on to serve in Vietnam as a fighter pilot flying a McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom.

During his tour of duty, he shot down a North Vietnamese Mig 21 and was later shot down and captured himself, subsequently serving 11 months as a prisoner of war. During his civilian career, Joe made the first solo crossing of the Atlantic Ocean in a gas balloon in 1983. Later he went on as a technical advisor and capsule communicator for Felix Baumgartner’s record breaking parachute jump from an estimated 24 miles.

When Winter Park Blue learned of the effort to restore one of Joe’s F-4 Phantoms for display as a local monument, we jumped at the opportunity. The aircraft had been on display at a Texas university, and was in need of a daunting amount of preparation before reaching its final destination, elevated 12 feet above ground at Joe Kittinger Park.

The plane was disassembled and brought to Orlando on a flatbed trailer for restoration. Upon arrival, the plane was reassembled and stored in a local hanger at the Orlando Executive Airport where our efforts began. The aircraft was measured and a custom template was created prior to the design process. This is the first F-4 Phantom to ever be wrapped, according to our military advisors. Design templates were obviously not available, and all information about camouflage colors and paint and lettering schemes were buried deep inside Air Force technical orders. After pattern and letter scheme for the Phantom was finalized, we went about the process of obtaining a warranty for the wrap from 3M. (Subsequently, we obtained our 3M MCS for the HP Latex 3000.)

The entire wrap is produced on 3M 180 CV3 and laminated with a special non yellowing laminate that is resistant to chemicals, mold, mildew and acid rain. WPB contracted a local MCS certified installer to cover the Phantom with over 400 lbs of vinyl and laminate. The plane was unveiled at a special fund raiser on October 5th to help raise funds for the long term maintenance of the monument. All those in attendance were absolutely blown away with the results.

For over two decades, teams of architects, designers, and engineers have taken their tools to East Beach in Galveston for one of the world’s largest sandcastle competitions. The Houston Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) has been hosting this competition since 1986.

This year, residents of Galveston attempted to set a new world record for the most aluminum cans collected in an eight hour period in conjunction with the AIA Sandcastle competition. By hosting a tent at the event, we were able to contribute to this effort. Despite the downpours, the competition was a success!

Spring break in Austin doesn’t just mean school vacation and the rodeo is in town; it also marks the beginning of the annual SXSW Festival. Austin rolls out the red carpet for thousands of industry professionals, not only from the music and film industries, but from the interactive community as well. Thomas Reprographics’ Austin shop is located downtown, right in the center of all the activities.

Our Austin team, with backup support from other Thomas locations, was able to provide services 24 hours a day to local and visiting exhibitors and promoters. Everything from mesh and vinyl banners, window graphics, floor, wall and street graphics, business cards, credentials and posters were produced and installed over the course of the multi-day event.

In addition to our reusable stands and cost effective rental options, this year we were proud to offer some new green solutions including our 100% recyclable boards and base stands. Neiman Marcus finds window clings beneficial for several reasons in their Last Call store in Plano, TX. Initially, the graphics were installed to hide construction going on inside before the store opened. They also served as advertising to show passers-by that a new Last Call store was opening soon. Now the graphics, which can be seen from the street, are used for advertising purposes. They also help to block the sun from coming in the windows.

Citing exceptional service and quality products, Bennigan’s restaurants named Thomas Reprographics as New Vendor of the Year during Bennigan’s Franchise Conference meeting on January 18.

“Thomas has been more of a partner than a vendor in producing our marketing materials and signs,” said Jennifer Gamble, Vice President of Marketing at Bennigan’s. “Whenever we need something, they find a way to make it happen, even when we have tight deadlines or non-standard requests.”

Bennigan’s uses the Visualogistix service from Thomas Reprographics, which provides companies with control, customization and availability of marketing material through an online storefront.
